Tinley Park Community Church is a NEIGHBORHOOD HUB FOR GOOD! In additional to fulfilling the spiritual need of our members and providing requested services to others, we sponsor Boy, Girl and Cub Scout Troops who meet here regularly, a T.O.P.S. group every Thursday morning, two AA Groups - one on Friday, the other, much larger, every Sunday night. The Southgate Korean Christian Church also conduct their Sunday service in our Sanctuary.

We also help support local food pantries directly as well as through The MArley Project and T.O.P.S. group who conduct food drives and donate cash. A typical food drive creates several hundred pounds of food and other necessary items. The Korean Church also donates food and cash during the year. Through our membership in the National Association of Congregational Christian Churches we also help support missions worldwide thanks mainly to Dr. David, Mary Alice and Lillian.

The endeavor I am most proud of, however, is our gifting to help needy children. This past Christmas, for example, we donated 60 gift bags to TOGETHER WE COPE to be included in their Santa’s Workshop Program. Our gift bags, along with other donated items, were the only gifts some of these local needy children received. Each bag contained school supplies, coloring books, a stuffed animal, small toys and candy. Nancy shops for bargains all year long to make this possible. Thanks to all who helped, but especially, a warm thanks to Nancy. I recommend we not only continue these kinds of efforts, but expand upon and do them bigger and better.

In addition, our Mitten Tree and Toys for Tots donations also benefit local children, thanks in part to our Wednesday night BINGO. It is a nice, friendly night out - for some it is their only regular social event, to others it is a time to further bond with family and friends.

This is a very busy place! When one thinks about it and relatively speaking, our very small congregation does as much, or more, of God’s work than many other church groups. Just imagine how much more potential we have through additional growth, even more community involvement and a new Pastor able to help get us there.

In conclusion, each contributing member and non-member should personally know that they, and our church, are more important to the community than they may think! There ought to be more like us. With your continued support, our neighborhood hub for good can confidently and boldly move into the future.
